Lot Catalog No. Descrip Opening
643   image1855-1933 used collection with 43 GB used in Gibraltar, and Gibraltar issues (129), all used.  The GB ‘used in’ a fair range; the later issues bordering on completion but with many faked cancels up to and including the £5.  However, good material is to be found; Bermuda overprints plus 2½d blue-black overprint; 1886 set (1s faked cancel); 1889 surcharges plus 50c short foot to ‘5’; most of the subsequent low values are OK but the only ‘good’ high value is the 1924 8s.  Mixed condition (Image) (Image2) (Image3) (Image4) (All Images)

651   imagePostmarks. Black stockbook with a collection of many hundreds, mostly pre-KG VI, arranged by cancellation type; not easy to assess properly, because most are overlapping.  However, assessment reveals an important collection containing some rare marks, with a number of the early negative seal types.  To mention a few of the scarcer cancels (Proud Types); Aburi D3 (3), Aimensah, Anyirawasi D2, Essuaso unlisted Type with Crown, Sefwi Wigso (unrecorded office) and Yeji D3 (3). Doubtless many more to be found.  Essential viewing for the specialist, who should allow considerable time (Image)

652   imagePostmarks.  Blue stockbook and leaves with a substantial quantity (low thousands) of postmarks on loose stamps or on piece.  The majority are KG VI and early QE II with various earliest known dates, etc, but a small number of Gold Coast marks on early Ghana are included.  Many are selected for quality of the cancels.  This collection would significantly add to almost any holding, or would make a wonderful basis for continuation.  Not easy to view since in parts many stamps are overlaid, but patient attention will certainly pay dividends (Image)
