165 O/og/nh 1/656 imageLarge Collection of Mint and Used Great Britain, 1840-1871, containing roughly 870 different stamps, with singles, sets, se-tenant multiples, a few booklet panes, a few souvenir sheets, etc. Starts off with used up to the 1890s, where there starts to be some mint, then mix of mint and used to the end, with NH starting to appear in the 1950s. We note a Penny Black, several perforated Penny Reds (incl. an almost complete plating study up to pl. 224), followed by Queen Victoria issues with several showing more than one plate number and values up to 5sh (10sh in the KEVII era). We note printings of the Seahorses and Castles, several phosphor issues, graphite bar issues, complete sets and more. See pictures for a small sampling. The owner's 2024 catalogue value totals U$15,600 and we have not checked the earlier issues for watermarks or proper plate identification.
