1141 O/nh/CVR Fishing image78 Page Thematic Exhibit on "Fishing The North Atlantic", a lovely and well researched exhibit on seventy eight 11 x 17 pages in two binders, with the main sections being early European fisheries; European fishermen in North America; North American fisheries; the fish catch; fishing methods; fishing vessels; the fishing industry; fish processing; the people; religion and philanthropy; fisheries in crisis. The exhibit contains a wide range of mint and used material, from the 19th and 20th century, including many sets, souvenir sheets, locals, poster stamps, proofs, trial colours, plate blocks, postcards, and some illustrated advertising covers, and more. We note better representation from Canada, United States, St. Pierre et Miquelon, Iceland, just to name a few, noting just a few of the better items with Scott #s Canada 158 50c Bluenose (n.h., c.v. $425), 302 plate block (n.h., Unitrade c.v. $250); France 296-297 (n.h., $80 total); Great Britain 108 (used, c.v. $290, with 1897 Fishmarket, Hull, socked on the nose postmark); Iceland 146 block of 4 (n.h., $170, perforation separation, counted as four singles); Newfoundland 220 (n.h., $320, perf. 14); St. Pierre et Miquelon 158-159 (m.h., $160 total), 160-164 (m.h., $80 total), and much more. The lot also includes many hundreds of stamps, covers, postcards, etc, that directly relate to the thematic exhibit, which were probably intended for exhibit inclusion at some point. A well researched exhibit, which would be difficult to duplicate, ideal for collectors and dealers alike. We highly recommend viewing this exhibit in person to better appreciate its contents and value, as our online photos only show a sampling. Clean and very fine. 1143 O/nh/CVR Red Cross imageCollection of Worldwide Red Cross Related Stamps and Covers, with roughly 60 covers, generally ranging from the 1940s onwards, noting prisoner of war mail, first day cover cachets, slogan cancels, corner cards, postal stationery, and more, many franked with semi-postal stamps depicting Red Cross symbols and related themes. A few of the covers are sleeved and have been priced for retail ranging from $10 to $20 each. The lot also includes a small accumulation of mint and used stamps, primarily semi-postals, all with Red Cross themes. A nice starter collection of this most popular collecting area. We note a few small faults with a few of the covers, overall fine to very fine. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans)

Postal Artifacts and Ephemera
LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
1145   imageImpressive Collection of 41 Stamp Boxes, with a good variety of different designs including envelopes (x12), books (x5), a sleigh, and more. We also note different materials, one is wood (a "tartan ware" box with inlaid Penny Red stamp dated 1882 inside), one is aluminum, one has four compartments with their lids made of what looks like agate, and the rest are either sterling silver or silver plated, etc. We counted 15 with hallmarks, 13 with the word "sterling", two with "925", a few have the company name stamped on them, and the rest are without any noticeable markings, although they may have rubbed off. All items are photographed online, and the collection is accompanied by a David Feldman auction catalogue for the "Primerose" Collection of Stamp Boxes (with PR) where similar ones were selling in the £50 to £100 range.
