1109 nh 308/1105 imageCollection of Japanese "Mihon" Specimen Overprinted Stamps, 1940 to 1972, a mint never hinged collection of about 660 different stamps (souvenir sheets, booklets, blocks, etc. counted as one) displayed in black mounts on quadrille pages in two albums. We noted several better items such as National Parks souvenir sheets (some with folder), and singles as well as Scott #s 435, 481-497 (part set missing #480), 508a, 520, 521A, 521B, C14-C24 and much more. The collection becomes more comprehensive from the 1960s-on. The Specimen overprinted stamps of Japan (called "Mihon") became available to the public only after 1957, and so they are scarcer and more sought-after before 1956. We have catalogued the collection from 1940 to 1956 (as regular, unoverprinted issues) which came to $5,800 (including Airs and Semi-Postals of the era). Overall fresh and fine to very fine and seldom offered, our online photos give a small taste only. 1117 nh 110/355 imageOld Time Stock of St Pierre & Miquelon, Mostly Early 1940s, an old Bileski stock, with each single, set or part set in its own glassine, with catalogue number and old asking price. A good portion of this lot is made up of France Libra overprints and surcharges, and Bileski often offered these with varieties, sometimes in a pair or in a block. Includes back of the book such as Dues (J45/66), B9, C20 and other interesting items. There is duplication of up to 113 in one case, but often we find 1 to 30 examples, of stamps now cataloguing in the $17 to $85 range. We catalogued a good portion of the lot, which came to $18,345 and we are confident the entire lot will catalogue $20,000 or more. This valuation does not include premiums for the numerous surcharge and overprint varieties within. A very useful lot for an online or show dealer, quality is fine to very fine and fresh, and the great majority (if not all) is never hinged. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (All Scans)
