Cents Issue - Scott #14-20
LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
12 E/P 15TCvii image5c Beaver Plate Proof in Black, an enormous example of this proof, from position 100 (lower right corner of sheet), printed on India paper, extremely fine. The proof is accompanied by a Greene Foundation certificate stating "top margin joining pos. 90 has had portion of frameline for pos. 90 erased.". We fail to see any trace of the purported removed frameline mentioned in the certificate and initially thought this was a die proof, but offer it on the basis of the certificate as a plate proof. 13 E/P 16TC image10c Consort Trial Colour Plate Proof in Black, an enormous example of this proof, from position 91 (lower left corner of sheet), printed on India paper, extremely fine. The proof is accompanied by a Greene Foundation certificate stating "right side margin joining pos. 92 has had portion of frameline for pos. 92 erased.". Nevertheless, if this position 92 line (which can probably only be seen with a VSC-8000 machine) were to be carefully trimmed off, the resulting jumbo proof could be resubmitted for a clean certificate, with no real harm done - we have left it as received.
