Carried by American Airlines flight to Mexico which crashed en route at Dallas killing 28 on board, Official ‘ambulance’ envelope with “DAMAGE DUE TO AIR MAIL/INTERRUPTION NEAR/DALLAS TX/NOV 29 1949” cachet, the only example to the Pacific Islands recorded. Repaired at right and endorsed “Ex phtff/Bangkok” on reverse. Ex Nierinck. (Image1)

CRASH AT SHANNON” and with “TROUVE EN/CET ETAT”, Port-au-Prince duplex on reverse where apparently found. Carried on K.L.M. flight to New York which crashed immediately after take off from Shannon. 20 of the 26 bags of mail were recovered. Photo. (Image1)

Carried on Middle East Airlines which caught fire en route at Beirut Airport on Jan. 9. Printed official New Zealand ‘ambulance’ envelope and official explanatory letter from Postal Department in Port Moresby included.
