Content datelined at Prome by Colonel Armstrong to his daughter, two months after the capture by British troops “The Royal [Scots] are in a dreadfully unhealthy state for we have more than 100 men in Hospital and have had many death this month”. “General Morrison I hear wrote in very strong terms to Sir Archibald....that the country is so noxious that it cannot be held...it would sweep off all the troops employed.”....The Madras Divsion have now established a dawk boat which comes up once a week....we no longer have the teasing waiting for our letters we before experienced”.
