2205 On piece, front, etc. imageTristan da Cunha: Type Va cachet: Strike on piece “Strike of type Va cachet from the original handstamp prior to the removal of the letter “A” of “DA”, in 1985” and signed by George Crabb. Revd. Lindsay treated type Va as his own and was bought back to England when he left the Island. He was known to backstamp his own mail with type Va whilst using the relevant handstamp on front. This went unnoticed until 1976, when this handstamp was discovered in private hands in the U.K. Photo. (Image1)
