A collection of ten concessionary rate covers from Edwin Churchard, Tinsnith on board, all addressed to Mrs. Churchard in London, from Madeira, two from Bombay, two from Trincomalee, Calcutta, Abyssinia, Sierra Leone and Portsmouth, seven with the 1d. rate, two at 2d. and one at non-concessionary rate of 10d. HMS “Octavia” during 1867-68 became the flagship of General Robert Napier, commanding the expedition to rescue hostages including the British Consul who had been taken by Emperor Theodore of Abyssinia.
