221 c, entire, etc. imageMalta: Great Britain Ship Letter Marks: 1803 (July 24) entire letter to Tunbridge Wells, redirected to London with “TUNB- WELLS/36” mileage mark and oval “SHIP/(crown)/LETTER” (Robertson S10) carried by HMS Frigate Blonde unusually landed at Chatham, rated a total of “1/4”(d) to include 1d. ship letter 5d. to London and 10d. to Tunbridge Wells. The letter, datelined at Malta, from Captain J. Herries to his father “I received his letter via Naples which cost me a day’s pay.....in future I wish him to send them by sea”. Photo. (Image1)
