3001 c, entire, etc. Phillippines: Cancellations and Covers: 1897 (May 20) envelope (with contents) to Manila franked Spain 15c. tied by a double-ring El Vendrell c.d.s. and endorsed “Islas Filipinas/Efercito en Operaciones” and addressed to the Spanish Barracks in Manila “or wherever he is”. Content by a woman to her brother “On the 13th General Polavieja arrived in Barcelona and had a very warm welcome. On the docks there was a beautiful triumphal arch that cost $7000 and had a large inscription Long live Generalk Polavieja. Long live the Philippine Army”, she further advises him not to drink any dirty water, a rather rare concession rate to a soldier, the majority known are from soldiers. Undated (ca. 2000) Graus (Barcelona) certificate.
