The interesting contents relates to attempts to buy cargo of tea, sugar, coffee, hemp and pepper in Batavia, Canton, Manila, Singapore, and Padang, noting “My last letter to you was dated 26th July, pr brig Mary for Holland via St Helena, which letter I learn was forwarded a few days since from this place. We sailed from Batavia on the 17th August and arrived at this place about 5 o’clock this afternoon, and shall sail tomorrow as soon as we get our water in, for Amsterdam, touching at Cowes.” Attractive and unusual.
