Kleingrothe of Medan’, portfolio of black photogravure prints, c.143 images on sixty-one 14¼ x 18 inches pages, comprising Singapore(9 pages), Penang (15) and Federated Malay States(36), Sumatra (1), & title page in original cloth folder (slightly damaged and soiled) depicting tiger with one leg in a trap on top flap (picture postcard of same view included), with buildings, views, railways with Rengas Pass and Mail Train of the Pass, Batu Caves, etc., some water damage affects one corner of pages and some prints (majority being two to a page) but most not too badly and some speckled toning. Accompanied by interesting 1976 letter from then Malaya Study Group member Bill Yates who had just donated his similar copy to the Royal Commonwealth Society (presumably now in Cambridge University) which was also slightly incomplete but had a map. Though not complete a rare group of photogravure prints from this noted photographer. (Image1)
