1854 1a DEEP RED - DIE I - "B" STONE - RARE UNUSED PAIR: An unused vertical pair [56/64] in a deep shade, both stamps strongly retouched: Position [56] in the "N" of "INDIA" and the N.E. ornament; Position [64] shows the chignon and "AN" of "ANNA" crudely redrawn. Note: position 64 described by Dawson as "the most interesting stamp in the sheet" Ex Lord Vestey- being the top pair of a vertical strip of five whose centre stamp was defective. SG 11 £5,500 as singles. [RL 8/3/1994 lot 63.]....
