Lot 41 - ORIGINAL DIE PROOF OF THE 1r VALUE IN BLACK PRINTED ON THIN PAPER MOUNTED ON CARD; c.25 Sept. 1847 Die Proof of the original 1r design (smoke close to the frame line; mostly good margins all round, close in places) in black on a small piece of thin paper mounted on non-contemporary card. It is thought that only 5 sets of the two values in this form survive in private hands (and see next lot). Important Exhibition Item.
