MARITIME - LOSS OF THE SS LEINSTER BY GERMAN SUBMARINE TORPEDO: 10 Oct. 1918 OHMS env. Dublin Official Paid to London with fine boxed purple SALVED FROM/S.S. "LEINSTER" cachet. The Leinster was torpedoed by U-123 the first torpedo hitting the mail room; she sank with a large loss of life. One bag of mail was washed up on the Isle of Man.
