509 imagePortuguese India. WW1. Registered letter from German prisoner of war Wohlers, held at Fort Aguada in Goa, to the Red Cross Committee in Geneva. Exempt from postage, it had registration number 16477 at Nova Goa station in June 1918, was opened by the censor, checked by censor 7, on 13.8.1949, sealed with the ribbon “PORTUGUESE INDIA MILITARY POSTAL CENSORSHIP”, to Lisbon where it arrived on 9.11, from where it was sent to Switzerland, via France, where it was again opened by the censor, arriving in Geneva on 17.11.1918.(Image 1) (Image 2)

511 imageWWI. Prisoners of War. Mozambique. 20 reis postal from D. Carlos Mouchon of Mozambique, written by P.O.W #441 from the Springhorn prisoner of war detention camp, on February 15, 1917. The correspondence of P. War, who were given entire postals, was exempt from postage, marked with PORTE FRANCO from the Red Cross of Lourenço Marques. Once launched in the mail, it was censored in Lourenço Marques, applied the FRANC de PORT mark, following to Lisbon, where the Portuguese Commission of Prisoners of War (purple mark) forwarded it to Geneva, where it passed on May 4, 1917, and was forwarded to Hamburg.(Image 1) (Image 2)
