In addition, this stamp was not identified as a rare variety until fourteen years after it was issued, so they were used on the normal commercial mail at the time, which is why so many have creases and other faults from usage. The copy offered here is the polar opposite of what is usually encountered on Scott #544. Its centering is extraordinary and it features the largest margins we have ever seen on this stamp. Furthermore, it also possesses excellent freshness and the lightest possible cancel. This is probably the finest existing used single, an opinion supported by the Professional Stamp Experts, who have awarded it the highest grade (the next highest is 85).A magnificent stamp for the finest quality used collection. Accompanied by a 1985 PF certificate and a 2009 PSE certificate (XF 90 Jumbo; SMQ $10,900.00 for 90 and $19,100.00 for 95); this is the highest grade the PSE has awarded to any #544, and the only example to be so graded.
