30084 , S.G. 60 image1847–54 6d Purple, Fresh Mint Block of Four — Exceptionally Rare Exhibition Piece An exceptionally rare and highly desirable mint block of four, with large part original gum showing the characteristic greenish tint, and clear to good margins throughout. The block has been previously folded and pressed both vertically and horizontally, but remains in excellent condition, displaying deep, rich colour and remarkable visual appeal. A showpiece of outstanding rarity, with very few mint blocks recorded, making this an important exhibition item for the advanced collector of Great Britain line-engraved issues. Note: Following an incident in which several sheets were printed on the gummed side, the Post Office introduced a distinctive greenish tint to the gum as a preventative measure. Stanley Gibbons Specialised Catalogue value: £100,000. (Image 1) (Image 2)
