The stamps are cancelled by a very clear strike of OLTENITA * DIST. ILFOVU 21/3 in blue, and the cover bears at right the elusive departure OLTENITZA linear telegraph-postal marking in blue. 30987 Mi. 23 image1871 15 bani vermilion from Prince Carol 1869 issue , type 4 of the transfer block, a very fine four-margined example on receipt (proof of delivery) for a registered letter sent from Bolgrad on 8/10 (1871), one week before the franking of such forms was discontinued. A rare and highly unusual postal form overfranked by 10 bani, originating from the famous Bolgrad bisects hoard, ex collection Odor. Overfranked items from the classic Romania period are scarce, and this example is extremely unusual. This may be connected with the lack of 5 bani stamps at Bolgrad, which led to the bisecting of 10 bani stamps. It is also possible that the sender had additional registered letters to dispatch on the same day and the postal clerk used a higher denomination to save 5 bani stamps. Minor repair to the form at left and a light vertical crease at right, well clear of the stamp; otherwise fine and rare. Very few such items are recorded. Cherata cert. (2026). (Image 1) (Image 2)

30989 Mi. 26 a,b image1871: 5 b. vermilion (Transfer Type 5) and 5 b. rose-carmine (Type 6), used examples with large margins, one just touched at right, tied to two different examples of 1871 'Recepisă de priimire' registration receipt forms by wreathed BUCURESTI datestamps in black with same day information strike alongside. The example with the rose-carmine adhesive shows an unusual usage with two types and spellings of the Bucharest datestamp, bearing alongside the BUCURESCI cds (24/9) in black. 30993   image1928 Bucovăț prison censorship marking. Stationery postcard sent on 20/2/1928, addressed to Constantin Agiu, a communist political prisoner at Bucovăț prison, Dolj county. The item bears a very clear and complete strike in violet of the unrecorded “Inchisoarea Centrala / VAZUT / BUCOVAT” (“Central Prison / Examined / Bucovat”). Very little is known about this prison, which is not even recorded in the comprehensive two-volume work by Dr. Dan Grecu, “Represiune si miscari de populatie in Romania 1921–1964” (2021) (“Repression and population movements in Romania, 1921–1964”). The Romanian Communist Party (Partidul Comunist Român) was founded in 1921 and declared illegal in 1924. Constantin Agiu was a communist leader, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Domains, and President of the Great National Assembly (1948). This postcard dates from his illegalist period. Some light creases, but an interesting and rare historical document. (Image 1) (Image 2)
