60463 DE,,M   image1896 "A Short History of Japanese Postage Stamps" presentation book featuring the official history of the 106 items issued prior to 1896 with each item appropriately affixed and annotated. There are 58 issued stamps (including 8 official reprints of the 1872 Dragons), 10 Telegraphs, 2 stamped labels and 36 Stationery cards (including the scarce PC1/4). Just 500 books were produced for distribution to government officials and diplomats. Some corner bumps to book, scuff on back and pages a little yellowed but still a fine and important book, one of very few to have survived, with a similar example selling for €8300 in the 2023 David Feldman Meiji auction.
