1978 Christmas UNISSUED 5p, hinged on original Post Office presentation card with gilt logo at top along with the other four issued values, mint o.g., very fine and extremely rare with only two examples recorded.
Note: The Post Office management asked the Union if they would agree to a special 5p stamp, just for Christmas. There had been a lot of workers disputes around that time and for whatever reason, the Union refused. They were told that nothing had been
done, it was just a suggestion. Unbeknown to them the stamp had already not only been designed and but the die had been produced, and two actual stamps had been made. Had the Union been aware that they were in fact not having a suggestion made to
them, but in essence the decision had already been made, it could easily have caused a Christmas strike. (Image 1)
