No 4" cds, with array of transit and arrival mkgs alongside or on reverse, a very fine and early out going cover. (Numbered "5" in crayon, being the code for each letter sent between the Count and the Countess) Note: The count, as the captain of a frigate, was sent to Cochinchina on 1 January 1869. In 1875 he was made the French Consul at Hanoi. On 1 January 1882 he became principal administrator of external affaires in Saigon. The countess was with her husband from 1879 to 1883 before returning to France.(Image 1) (Image 2)
