Several faults and portion of the document cut where additional stamps were torn, nevertheless hardly detracting from the magnificence of this exhibition item. The largest 60 réis multiple known on any kind of postal document, and additionally exhibiting a very rare cancellation. This was the most important "Inclinados" multiple in the Walter G. Taveira collection of classic Brazil; he is the author of the ultimate handbook on "Inclinados". Provenance: Walter G. Taveira.(Image 1) (Image 2)

10233 RHM 23 image1866, 10r vermilion, uncancelled and correctly paying the printed matter rate to Portugal on 31.1.1873 "O Commercial" newspaper from Rio Grande do Sul to Figueira (Portugal), with adjacent "20" réis tax marking to be paid by the addressee and corresponding to the first rate with carriage of subsidised packets. Note: Most of the newspapers in existence sent to Portugal were the "Revista Commercial da Praça da Bahia", but these have no text on their reverse side and consequently this does not enable them to be folded towards the interior. In that manner those newspapers externally display the side without text, where the franking was applied, and therefore do not clearly show to be newspapers. This lot, distinctly exhibiting the usage of a newspaper per transatlantic mail, is extremely rare thus.(Image 1)
