1192 * imageJamaica, 1921. 6d Red and Dull Blue-Green (SG 90s). Prepared for issue as part of the 1919-21 pictorial series, depicting the reading of the Declaration of the Abolition of Slavery in Spanish Town on 1 August 1833, this stamp was suppressed on political grounds by Governor Sir Leslie Probyn shortly before release. An estimated 416,000 stamps were printed and subsequently destroyed. "SPECIMEN" overprint examples distributed through the UPU survive and are infrequently encountered on the market.
