ADDITIONAL ½d 1st & 2nd DAY COVERS EX GLASGOW/EDINR. - BOTH WITH EDINBURGH MS "½" MARKS; Fine 10 June 1813 EL (part printed; ref.
interest on loans) from a Glasgow solicitor to Edinburgh endorsed "Double only" (a Bank Bill for £27-5s-0d was originally enclosed) with fine 10 June "GLASGOW/405-G" & 11 June Edinr. (red) ds on the front and charged "1/2½" in manuscript; the "1/2"
in a different hand to the "½" (as usual for FDCs going to Edinburgh). Plus a 12 June 1813 E from Edinr. (fine red cds on front) to Kirkcaldy charged "1/6½" in the same (Edinr. P.O.) hand. Only a handful of Scottish Mail Tax FDCs have been recorded.

ADDITIONAL ½d - EARLIEST RECORDED USAGES OF LONDON'S 1st-TYPE & 2nd-TYPE JUNE 1813 MARKS; Fine 17 June 1813 EL from London to
Edinburgh with a very fine narrow 1st-Type London "Addl/½" mark (L185(1); EKD) nicely placed on the front. This is the cover illustrated in BGSS p.220. Plus 15 June E from Blairgowrie to London with fine boxed "BLAIR/GOWRIE/453 - E" on reverse but
charged "1/2½" in manuscript and also having an Edinr. 17 June transit ds on the front beside a mainly very fine wider 2nd-Type London "Addl/½" mark (L185(2); EKD) on the front supported by a red London 20 June arrival cds on the reverse. Rare pair.

from Edinburgh to Paisley charged "8" with a fine red Edinr. cds alongside along with a mainly very fine strike of the extremely short-lived 1st-Type Edinburgh Scottish Mail Tax "Addl/½" mark (boxed with italic numerals; ED208 - thought to have only
