 9 MAY 1792 - VERY RARE EL FROM CAP-HAITIEN, HAITI, TO PHILADELPHIA, USA where excellent "30/MA" Franklin mark applied. Redirected
to Baltimore endorsed on back "May 28 Forwarded by Messrs. Nixon & Foster". As well as being a very attractive Franklin mark, this is also a rare example of an early letter from Haiti, just after the start of Toussaint l’Ouverture’s rebellion.

with matching "MOBILE/Al." cds in opposite corner, off-cover 1847 5c (4 good margins) with red barred diamond cancel, and 23 Aug. 1857 env. (dusting) to Athens, Tennessee. with 1857 perf. Type 1 3c (off-centre; early usage) tied by "KNOXVILLE/Ten."
