VERY EARLY PRESTAMP "S.T." COVER SENT FROM "SANDEVAAG" (VAGAR ISLAND) TO "THORSHAVN"; Fine 6 Dec. 1819 EL (family contents with full typed transcript; plus English summary) sent from "Sandevaag" to "Thorshavn" with the postal endorsement "S.T." (Stats Tjeneste - Official Letter) on the flap and so with no postal charge. Folded neatly to display the dated heading inside alongside the address panel. The writer tells his father about a food parcel sent by ship, some animal hides, a lack of lady friends, and sends Christmas/New Year greetings. The entire Faroes population at this date is thought to have been only around 6,000. A rare prestamp inter-island personal letter in fine condition. (Image)
