1176   imageARTIST SUBMISSION FOR THE 'INDEPENDENT POSTAL ADMINISTRATION' ISSUE: Three pieces of art paper mounted on boards (260mm x 205mm) with water colour essays for the 1969 stamp issue, signed by the artist "W. Joan Flohr, Beach Flat, Craigside, Llandudno, N. Wales". One of a map of Jersey, one of ripe vine tomatoes, and one of the head of a Jersey cow, all with the Queen's head in gold and a crest of the island. Very attractive, if somewhat naive. Accompanied by 2 letters from the "Deputy Greffier of the States" explaining that the designs were rejected. A wonderful piece of history of the sort that is hardly ever seen for sale.
