1901/05: Lakatoi vertical Multiple Rosettes Wmk., thick paper, line perf. 14: complete second issue set SG9-SG16, including SG13a “Deformed d” variety, with additional comb perforation examples. The page comprises
fourteen unused examples: SG9 (½ d. black & yellow-green), SG10 (1 d. black & carmine), SG11 (2 d. black & violet), SG11a (2 d. violet), SG12 (2½ d. black & ultramarine), SG13 (4 d. black & sepia), SG13a (4 d. “Deformed d”
variety), SG14 (6 d. black & myrtle-green), SG15 (1 s. black & orange), and SG16 (2 s. 6 d. black & brown), together with additional examples of SG9, SG10, SG11a, SG12 and SG15 showing the scarce comb perforation. A comprehensive and
well-matched representation of the second De La Rue printing on thick paper with vertical Multiple Rosettes watermark, illustrating both standard line perforation and the rare comb perforation, the latter seldom encountered across multiple
denominations. The key SG13a “Deformed d” variety is present unmounted, and the high value SG16 (2 s. 6 d.) is ex John DuPont collection, accompanied by Blair certificate (2015). Fresh colours and fine to very fine throughout, predominantly unmounted
or lightly hinged. Rare assembly Gi = £ 7'265+ (Image 1)

1907 (May-June): Lakatoi 2 s. 6 d. black and brown, overprinted with small “Papua” in black, horizontal wmk., thick paper, perf 14, an unused corner marginal example, strong colour, good appearance, showing variety "Misplaced
Overprint". A remarkable and dramatic example showing a significantly displaced overprint from the single sheet of 30 overprinted. From Position 1, with part of a second, faint overprint clearly visible in the upper selvedge. A striking positional
feature illustrating the extreme misalignment of the setting. Some toning showing through. An important positional variety; only one sheet is recorded with such severely displaced overprint. A rare and highly visual overprint error of this key high
value (Image 1)

and scarce sideways overprint variety, the overprint clearly misplaced and well clear of its normal orientation. From position 8, showing a strong and well-defined overprint impression. Slight browning to gum, otherwise very fine. A visually
impressive example of this recognised overprint error. Cert. Blair (2018) Gi = £ 7'500 (Image 1)

1907 (May-June): Lakatoi ½ d. black and yellow-green, overprinted with small “Papua” in black, comb perf., vertical wmk., a used example of strong colour, fine appearance, neatly cancelled by black cds, variety "Thick Paper".
A remarkable new discovery, printed on distinctly thick paper and exhibiting comb perforation, differing from the normally encountered line perf examples. Believed to be the first example brought to light, discovered in the Michael Ryan collection,
and likely originating from a single sheet only. Currently unlisted in Stanley Gibbons. Accompanied by British Commonwealth Expertising Service certificate (2018, Jerry Blair), confirming comb perforation, vertical watermark and substantially thicker
paper, and recognising it as a new variety. A rare and important addition to the Small Papua overprint series. Cert. Blair (2018) (Image 1)

1907 (May-June): Lakatoi ½ d. black and yellow-green, overprinted with small “Papua” in black, vertical wmk., perf. 14, an unused example, of fresh colour, variety "Double Overprint". A rare example of the listed double
overprint, the second impression clearly visible to the naked eye. This stamp originates from the horizontal strip across positions 16–20, the doubling becoming progressively closer toward position 20, yet remaining distinct. Additionally position
20, showing the “white leaves” characteristic. Accompanied by expert certificate, confirming the presence of the double overprint. Fine appearance, large part original gum. A scarce and desirable variety from this issue. Cert. Blair (2016) SG

1907: Lakatoi specialised study of the small “Papua” overprint on Plate 2 position 29 constant variety “Cross on the Hill”, represented on later Small “Papua” printings. The page comprises four unused examples: SG43 (6 d.
Small “Papua”), SG44 (1 s. Small “Papua”), SG44b (1 s. shade, Small “Papua”), and SG45a (2 s. 6 d. Small “Papua”). The assembly further confirms the persistence of the vignette flaw; the distinct cross-shaped marking on the hill above the Lakatoi;
through the later Small “Papua” printings, demonstrating the continued use of Plate 2 without alteration to position 29. Good to fresh colours and fine to very fine throughout, neatly presented as the concluding section of a comparative overprint and
plating study, unused examples with og. where applicable (Image 1)
