4773 **/*/piece/cover/bof/(*) 1872/1955: Accumulation - Stamps, Postal History & Picture
Postcards. A substantial and wide-ranging accumulation comprising
stamps, postal history, and picture postcards, housed in two albums
together with hundreds of additional pages, loose leaves,
stockcards, and folders contained within a large box. The
collection begins with a chronological study of the Cameo issue and
continues through the later Kings, extending to postal stationery,
airmail, first flight covers, postmarks, recognised varieties, and
multiples including blocks and sheets. A significant quantity of
material remains to be fully sorted, with some items still housed
in original auction envelopes and folders, offering clear scope for
further discovery and research. Additionally a study of Cameo
forgeries set out on album pages and a Senegal picture postcard
selection. Condition is mixed in places, though several scarcer and
fine examples are noted throughout. Also included is the 1897 Bible
used in the swearing-in of the Governors of The Gambia - an unusual
and historically significant adjunct. A rare and useful lot with
considerable depth, research potential, and opportunity for further
development.

4776 piece/cover 1912/1953: Postal History Collection - Five-Album Study (150+
Covers & Cards). A well-structured postal history collection housed
in five albums, comprising over 150 covers and cards, all
originating from the same carefully assembled holding and
extensively written-up by hand to indicate scarcity, usages,
EKUs/LKUs, and rare markings. One album is devoted entirely to a
detailed study of the 1912 KGV postal stationery issues, including
postcards and registered envelopes overprinted SPECIMEN, together
with a number of postally used examples demonstrating commercial
application. A further album focuses on the 1912/1922 Multiple
Crown CA issues on cover and card, showing a good range of
frankings and postal usages. The remaining three albums contain
later material, two of which concentrate on Second World War censor
mail, predominantly civilian correspondence. Included within this
section are several covers bearing the additional “DAMAGED BY
SEA-WATER” cachet, adding maritime wartime interest. Throughout,
the collection reflects knowledgeable accumulation, with emphasis
on scarce markings, early and late recorded dates, and unusual
usages. A substantial and research-oriented postal history holding
with clear scope for further development or exhibition. Provenance:
