610 cover image1868 (Feb. 7): 1867 third engraving 5 C. Condor green single copy
and irreg. block of three, plate pos. 55 and 42-43/54, used on
entire folded letter addressed to Cobija as 20 c. double rate
franking for 1/2 oz to 1 oz. between Departments. Single and block
of three tied by single strikes of 'Potosi' and 'Cornucopia'
ornamental circular handstams. Top pair of the block is cut in and
affected by a strong horizontal file fold, the lower also with
horiz.filing crease and cover with slight age discoloration.
Despite the faults it was the only example in the former
'Ortiz-Patiño Collection' that shows a 20 c. internal rate between
two Departments. Ex Spink Shreves Auction May 2008. (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)

611 cover image1877 (Sept. 22): Entire envelope from Chimba (Bolivia coastal port
north of Antofagasta) to Valparaiso, Chile, bearing a fine strike
in blue-green of the oval “CORREOS DE LA CHIMBA / BOLIVIA”
handstamp with central steamship design, together with “FRANCA”
handstamp alongside in blue. The address panel clear and well
written, the markings prominently struck and of attractive
appearance. Carried by coastal steamer, this distinctive maritime
marking was applied at Chimba to letters conveyed by ship to onward
destinations, the design depicting a steam vessel within the oval
frame, an unusual and visually appealing feature among South
American maritime markings of the period. Reverse with arrival
datestamp of Valparaiso (22 Sept 1877), showing typical light aging
and minor edge wear consistent with commercial use. A scarce and
attractive maritime entire, the bold steamship marking offering
strong visual appeal and representing an interesting example of
Bolivian sea postal operations in the late 19th century. (Image 1) (Image 2)

accumulation, including Airmails, showing a fine range of
duplicates and a few multiples throughout, starting with a group of

horizontal pair from the right corner of the sheet, showing the
plate dividing lines at top, vivid colours, used with the framed

defective, with some acid-ink damage, two vertical creases (one

imperfections, a rare item, illustrated in Juchert "Bull´Eyes on
