Anchor, perf. 14, unused, without gum, colour somewhat faded, but a well centred example of this great rarity; one of the key stamps of Great Britain. Cert. RPSL (1955) Gi = £85'000. Provenance: Corinphila sale 45 (April 1958), lot 3842; London 2015 Europhilex Rarities Auction, Corinphila, May 16, 2015, lot 25; Note: The stamp offered here originated from the famous block of nine found in a small leather jewel box in 1947, and illustrated in the 'The British Philatelist' in June 1947 - a photocopy of the article and the block accompany this lot. The Karl Louis Index records a total of 32 examples of this Official, of which a pair is in the Royal Collection, a block of four in the National Collection of Ireland, and a single in the Evans collection at the City Museum & Art Gallery in Birmingham.
