6465 cover image1843 (Jan 30): Incoming envelope from France addressed to the General Consul of Tuscany with fine and scarce blue "EMPRESA / N. EUROPA" cds on front, red "Rebuts" handstamp to right, with handstruck '6' on arrival, the cover had been originally posted in August 1842 but appears to have been delayed and verified by the French postal administration bearing an official "Don Gle des Postes / ouvte pr Renseignements" cachet on reverse. Fine example of framed "Aus Westindien / über Newyork" handstamp in black at left applied at Bremen (four franked letters from Cuba recorded), framed "SCHÖNBACH BEI ÖBAU IN SACHSEN" arrival (July 9) backstamp.
