6208 cover imageThailand 1895 (November 26): Cover to the Hague, redirected to Davos, franked with 1887-91 3 a. green & blue, tied by Bangkok c.d.s., endorsed "via Singapore", reverse with Gravenhage arrival c.d.s. (28 Dec), struck the following day on front with same cds upon despatch to Switzerland, with Davos arrival backstamp (31 Dec), ornate violet sender's handstamp on flap ("Aut via inveniam, aut faciam"), a superb and scarce single franking. Note: The addressee, Epimachus Jacobus Johannes Baptista (Eppo) Cremers, served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands from 1864 to 1866, and later as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1884 to 1888.
