468 cover image1885/1901: Group of three covers; including 1885 3 c. postal stationery wrapper (H&G E2) used with 'FRANCA' cancels and blurred 'Santo Domingo' cds sent to Hambrug via St. Thomas on the 'SS Sto Domingo', some faults however rare; also 15 c. yellow postal stationery envelope (H&G B5a), used, sent registered, with additional 1885 5 c. blue, from Puerto Plata to Hanover, Germany, stamp affixed slightly above top of cover, cancelled/tied by violet oval "FRANCA", with "Republica / Dominicana" registered cachet alongside US New York Exchange registered label which is tied by Puerto Plata datestamp in violet June 1889, to reverse two double-lined oval handstamps "NEW YORK N:Y: / REG'.DIV", one dated 20 June 1889 the other the day after, arrival dated 21 July 1889, some soiling and surface rubs to envelope, otherwise fine and rare; and 1901 senders section of 2 c. red on yellow reply card (H&G 11) uprated with 1 c. olive green (Scott 113) sent to Germany; excellent trio. 470 imageForeign Post Offices in Ecuador 1873: French Consular Mail 80 c. Ceres Type, rose on pinkish paper, used with an octagonal French paquebot cancel 'GUAYAQUIL 24 SEPT. 73'. It has a couple of small thins but features a scarce cancel. According to a Moorhouse certificate, it is genuine and documents a short-lived Pacific coast service that operated from April 1872 to February 1874. 471 piece image1873ca.: French Consular Mail, piece with three-colour franking of the perforated Ceres Type, comprising 10 c., 40 c., and 80 c., tied by a probable private cancel "AGENCE DE GUYAQUIL STC" ( 'STC' in ornate, monogram-like letters) in blue colour. According to a Moorhouse certificate from 2012, this is a known cancel on the first issues of Ecuador. Moorhouse suggests that the cancel originated from the French consular office or a shipping agent in Guayaquil. This stamp issue had been created to collect funds for the construction of a road between the cities of Loja and Zamora, there is a printed signature of the Minister Emilio Cucalón over each two stamps.
