249 cover image1800/1960: VALPARAISO. Collection in two folders beginning with a very early strike BALPARAISO on almost complete entire, and the various later versions beginning with "V". ULTRAMAR letters from the early 1850s with LIMA VAPOR and ARICA VAPOR, with various tax markings, 1850 incoming prepaid letter from Switzerland, marked PD, an 1858 letter from France marked PP is also a very early transatlantic letter to this destination. A Crown PAID AT VALPARAISO on a 1868 letter to France, three other letters to France in 1872/1873 bear the scarce VALPARAISO UNPAID as well as various transit marks. The British double circle on a three letters via Panama to Bordeaux. 251 cover image1853/62: Group of three covers, comprising 1853 5 c. brown red, London printing, blued paper, vibrant shade, crisp impression, used on cover, from Valparaiso to Santiago, dated 10 July 1854, tied by target handstamp in black, affixed to left of cover with despatch datestamp in red alongside, just shaved along part of top otherwise good to large margins all round, horizontal filing centrally well clear of adhesive, very attractive example; also a 1854 5 c. red-brown, white paper, used on cover from Santiago to Valparasio, dated 3 October 1854, tied by target cancel in black, shaved slightly across top otherwise large margins, scissor cut in base at right into design, filing fold not affecting stamp and 1856 10 c. blue, vertical pair with right side marginal, four large to huge margins all round, although has fault along top at right, tied by black cancel, stain, heavy horizontal crease not affecting adhesives, scarce pair with large margins. 257 cover image1857/65: Santiago P.O. printings, 5 c. dull reddish / yellowish brown 'canela' shades, the collection on beautifully written up leaves with used single examples (16), pairs (3) and strips of three (2, one is on cover), all in the scarcest shade of the issue and in superb quality with the 1860 entire letter used from Valparaiso to Coquimbo bearing strip of three with just shaved margin at top cancelled in black. 266 cover image1872/1935: Collection of the Postal Stationery of Chile in seven volumes, consisting of over five hundred pieces with many good and unusual items, such as a 112 x 73mm Specimen of the 1872 2 c. local envelope, which remained unissued due to the ship "TACORA" sinking with the entire print-run of 263'000 envelopes. The issued items also contain some exquisite items, one being the 1893 and 1895 postcards with private prints from the Swiss Society and the latter with some highly decorative German-Austrian-Swiss Society print on the reverse. There are also many attractive additional frankings, as well as a postmark collection on the 1885 Columbus 5 c. violet envelopes.
