BRIT. CALAIS 27 JANV. 57" entry cds, both in black alongside. Reverse with "BOSTON Br PKT 14 JAN" transit cds in black, LONDON transit cds in red and GENOVA transit datestamp in red (Jan 30 57). Charged upon arrival “10” (decimi), which include Sea rate, English and French transit and Sardinia postage, some staining, otherwise a fine and scarce usage to Sardinia. Scott = $ 1'200 on domestic cover. The Shanghai Overprints are represented to 40c, the 20c orange and 24 red both with clear parcel Roller 'SHANGHAI CHINA', Hawaiian postal stationery, nearly fifty private despatch stamps and several Telegraph proofs. On front with golden Dublin City Seal with adjacent endorsement of Alfred Byrne, Lord Mayor of Dublin' at left, plus another smaller red seal of St. John signed Jas. W. Britain Mayor of St. John, New Brunswick with endorsed 'received Aug.19/32'. On reverse with the golden New York City Seal and 'received at New York by T.H. 983 image1931/32: Lou Reichers Atlantic Attempt Newark - Harbourg Grace - (Dublin - Paris) with his Lockheed Altair NR998Y, named 'Miss The Liberty", to beat Charles Lindbergh's record time with a crash landing 50 miles off the Irish coast. Souvenir cover from Newark (May 12 1931) signed by Lou Reichers, grouped with many newspapers clips, oringinal photographs of the plane and Lou Reichers. Of the twenty planes attempting transatlantic record flights from Harbour Grace between 1927 and 1936, only the Liberty was successfully rescued at sea. Envelope returned to USA 1934 and saved from the American Airline crash while landing at Buffalo N.Y., December 19,1934 en route from Newark to Chicago with special cachet on reverse: "DAMAGE DUE TO / AIR MAIL INTERRUPTION / AT / BUFFALO NY DEC 19 1934" in violet. Mai): Dampfer 'Bremen'- Southampton, Aufgabe "Varick St. May 12" und 'Mit Vorausflug nach Southampton', Lot zwei Belege nach Waterford, Irland, dazu zwei weitere Belege, ohne Flugbestätigungsstp., davon einer ab USA, bezw. eine Zuleitung ab Irland, beide mit Leitvermerk 'Via S.S. Bremen (or Europa) Ship to Shore'. Weiter ein Beleg ab Brasilien (28.3.39) mit Katapultpost Südatlantik. Nur sehr wenige Katapultbelege nach Irland bekannt.
