September, vollständiger Brief aus Vaduz an den Rentmeister in Hohenems, historisch bedeutsames Schreiben des Georg Andreas Baumgartner, auch Paumbgartner, aus Vaduz an Franz Karl Kurzer, Rentmeister und Ratsverwalter der Grafschaft Hohenems, im Brief werden beiliegende Dokumente erwähnt, die Beförderung erfolgte durch Boten, auf der Rückseite findet sich der handschriftliche Vermerk portofrey, ergänzt durch die Notiz 1 fl 30 x, also 1 Gulden 30 Kreuzer, die damalige Gebühr für eine schwere Briefsendung, der Brief ist mit einer kleinen, vollständig erhaltenen Petschaft des Absenders versiegelt, das Schriftstück befindet sich in außergewöhnlich guter Erhaltung und stellt ein frühes Dokument aus jener Epoche dar, als Vaduz noch Teil der Grafschaft Hohenems war, die Familie Baumgartner war eine alteingesessene Vaduzer Familie, der im Brief erwähnte Vater des Absenders war Landschreiber in Vaduz, der Adressat, Rentmeister Kurzer, war für die Finanzen der Grafschaft verantwortlich, eine Funktion, die dem heutigen Finanzamt vergleichbar ist, Historischer Kontext: Hohenems wurde im Jahr 1500 von Kaiser Ferdinand I zur freien Reichsgrafschaft erhoben, 1613 kauften die Grafen von Hohenems die Herrschaft Vaduz, zur Zeit der Briefverfassung im Jahr 1678 regierte Ferdinand Karl, Graf von Hohenems, der später durch zahlreiche Hexenprozesse in Vaduz unrühmlich bekannt wurde, aufgrund dieser Vorgänge wurde er 1684 vom Reichsgericht abgesetzt und inhaftiert, die finanzielle Lage der Grafen verschlechterte sich drastisch, sodass Ferdinand Karls Nachfolger die Grafschaft Hohenems 1699 an Johann Adam I von Liechtenstein veräußerte, der Erwerb von Vaduz durch das Haus Liechtenstein erfolgte schließlich 1712, es handelt sich um ein herausragend erhaltenes Kabinettstück aus der Zeit vor dem Übergang Vaduz’ an das Fürstenhaus Liechtenstein, ein bedeutendes Zeugnis frühester regionaler Post- und Verwaltungsgeschichte, Attest Heschel, XF!
