BAON MARSZOWY 30 PU.KU PIECHOTY, picture side shows LWOW (Lemberg) – Ulica Leona Sapiehy (Sapieha Street), rare example of early Polish fieldpost during the POLISH–UKRAINIAN WAR of 1918–1919, conflict over territorial claims in Eastern Galicia, particularly the city of Lwów, following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the sender's unit, 2. BAON MARSZOWY 30 PU.KU PIECHOTY (2nd March Battalion of the 30th Infantry Regiment), was part of the reconstituted Polish Army operating in Eastern Galicia, the regiment itself tracing roots to the Austro-Hungarian k.u.k.
