A useful group of Boer War covers (20) follow from Transvaal, Cape Town, Holland etc, two addressed to Broad Bottom Camp (from UK and Cape Town) and several to Deadwood Camp (from Holland, Germany, Transvaal etc) with a range of censor cachets, frankings etc (typically mixed condition). A fine & most attractive range of KEVII to KGV covers (65) with some cards incl. 1912 ½d, 1d & 2s reg to Germany (scarce), also 1½d & 3d, 1922 issues incl. the set to 8d, ½d (2) to St. Lucia (with local postage due applied), OHMS covers incl. 1913 6d to Germany (2) and Austria, a variety of frankings, destination, postmarks, some postcards, a few later covers etc. A fine & most attractive collection. 910 imageBOER WAR 1900 censored reply 1d postal card to the Imperial Government, Dar-Es-Salaam, German East Africa, from a P.O.W. in Deadwood Camp, cancelled 'ST HELENA 5.SP.1900.' A circular Censor Prisoners of War h/stamp with the initials E. W. of the censor, Mombasa 29.OC, Zanzibar 11.NO and Dar-Es-Salaam 16.11.00 transit cancels are on the front of the card, on the back is a Durban SE.28.00 transit c.d.s. Interesting letter regarding the welfare of the writers son. A very rare destination from a P.O.W in St. Helena. (Image)
