1945 Toronto slogan (Feb 19 45) ties #249(3) 1¢ War issue on cover to GPO, Forest Side, Mauritius, bs, redirection attempts incl. Curepipe bs and "ICONNU" and returned to Canada with Toronto Stn G bs (Aug 1945) . The cover seems to be sent at the 3¢ Empire rate in effect until 1943 and lacks the 1¢ War Tax implemented. The long delivery (Feb to May) suggests it went surface mail, and both censorship and 1¢ shortpayment were not caught. Perhaps the post office assumed it was printed matter and it slipped through.
