37 c 22b,etc image22b: 1¢ red brown on thin paper plus Nova Scotia 5¢ blue both tied by matching strikes of 2-ring '4' cancels to DUAL PROVINCE FRANKED 6¢ cross-border rate cover from Halifax 8 AP 1869 to Boston, St John 10 NO transit on back, the Nova Scotia 'Cents issue' stamps had been withdrawn from use on April 1, 1868 with the introduction of the Large Queens, the first 'Dominion of Canada' issue, but the preceding Provincial issues were never 'demonitised', and could presumably still be used today, reduced at left and some faults but a remarkably RARE COVER and attractive 'SHOW-STOPPER', one of only two such 'in-period' usages in existence.
