PRECANCELS
LotNo. Symbol Lot Description Cat. Value
158 imageEXTENSIVE U.S. PRECANCEL COLLECTION OF 55,000 DIFFERENT, includes about 55,000 different singles, hinged in 80 one inch three ring binders by state with printed pages by towns, only towns which have at least one stamp are included, this collector collected different towns and then different issues for each town, many towns only have a few different stamps but some major towns have dozens of different issues included, there are also many varieties displayed in this collection, the overall condition is mixed and faults are to be expected but for the most part a pretty clean collection, there is a detailed inventory of states/number of binders/towns/number of different stamps, we will list the highlights here and each state we list towns first and then number of stamps: CA (621/3,752), LA (306), San Fran. (281), CT (113/1,357), FL (238/1,125), IL (449/3,665), IN (157/1,698), IA (269/1,921), KS (411/1,437), MA (212/2,697), MI (202/2,040), MN (154/1,247), MO (382/1,961), NJ (190/2,499), NY (365/4,427), NY City (382), NC (154/557), OH (445/4,298), OK (138/505), OR (105/416), PA (708/4,063), TX (317/1,596), WA (112/207), WI (192/2,043), there is also Puerto Rico (61), Scott 300(24) and also included are about 1,000 cancels which have not been identified, a wonderful collection which is quite extensive and certainly a rare opportunity for the specialist in this area to add probably thousands of stamps to their collection, also this collection would be a great start for someone wanting to jump into this always popular area, we have included a number of scans for this collection but viewing will be a huge advantage to the serious bidder, we did not make an attempt to catalog this collection but in going through a number of towns there appears to be many items with catalog values in the $5-25 range and some higher, also there are some individual stamp issues which have higher Scott catalog value too, well worth a good look.
