2159 cover image1900 Szemao (24 May) to France, applied with Szemao bisected bilingual cds. Transit Mengtsz (4 Jun). In com- bination with Navigation and Commerce issue 15c, tied by Laokay (11 Jun) cds. Transit Hanoi (19 Jun), Sasigon (25 Jun). Arrived France (31 Jul). The Chinese Post Office in Yunan was only for customs internal use until 1901. It is a rather early example of Szemao bisected bilingual cds.

1900.5.24 思茅寄法國，鈐思茅半切漢英始發日戳。6.4經蒙自。加貼航海及商貿神像15生丁，銷老街6.11日戳。6.19經河內，6.25經西貢。7.31抵法國。海關時期之雲南中國郵局僅供海關職員使用，直至1901年才收寄公眾郵件。此為思茅半切漢英日戳之較早例子。(Image 1)

2160 cover image1898 Szemao (15 Mar) to C.E.Tanant, Customs Wuhu via French Indochina, applied with Customs Szemao origin cds. Transit Customs Mengtzu (25 Mar). In combination with Navigation and Commerce ovpt. Chine 25c, tied by Laokay (31 Mar) cds. Further transit Hanoi (8 Apr), Haiphong (9 Apr), Shanghai (21 Apr) with dollar cds. Arrived Wuhu (23 Apr) with dollar cds in brown. Cover opened out for display. Covers of Customs Szemao are extremely scarce with only 5 examples known. This one dated the second. Ex- Steve Chazen.

1898.3.15 思茅經印支寄蕪湖海關稅務司譚安，鈐思茅海關始發日戳。3.25經蒙自海關。加貼航海及商貿神像加蓋Chine 25生丁，銷3.31老街日戳。4.8經河內，4.9經海防，4.21經上海，鈐大圓戳。4.23抵蕪湖，鈐棕色大圓戳。封剖開以作展示。思茅海關封極為難得，存世僅見五例，此為日期第二早者。蔡盛舊藏。 1. 1897.7.21 思茅關 Customs Szemao → 重慶 Chungking. 2161 cover image1901 Mengtsz (30 May) to France, applied with Mengtsz bisected bilingual origin cds. In combination with Navi- gation and Commerce issue 15c, tied by Laokay (1 Jun) cds. Transit Hanoi (8 Jun). Arrived France (21 Jun). Since Chinese PO in Yunnan was only for Customs internal use until 12 Oct 1901, no Chinese franking was required. It is one of the four as well as the earliest example of Mengtsz bisected bilingual cds.

2162 cover image1901 Szemao (9 Dec) to France. PIcture postcard, f.w. Coiling Dragon 1c, tied by Szemao bisected bilingual cds (with year digit wrongly inserted as “10”). In combination with Navigation and Commerce issue x4, in total of 35c for international registered postcard rate, tied by Muong Hou Neua cds. Transit Muong Ngoi (12 Jan), Dien Bien (21 Jan), Hanoi (3 Feb). Arrived France (11 Mar). Combination mails of Chinese and French Indochina stamps from Yunnan are very scarce with only about 20 recorded. This one was dated very early, probably the earliest combination postcard from Szemao to France. Not to mention that sending from Szemao and taking Laos route are even more unusual. Card with tear and folds. It is also a very early combination postcard from Szemao to France, if not earliest.

1901.12.9 思茅寄法國。圖片明信片，貼蟠龍1分，銷思茅半切漢英日戳（年份誤作“10”）。加貼航海及商貿神像4枚，合35生丁，銷Muong Hou Neua日戳。1.12經Muong Ngoi，1.21經奠邊，2.3經河內，3.11抵法國。混貼大清及印支票之雲南封片十分少見難得，存世僅約20件。出自思茅並經老撾中轉更是可遇不可求。此另為極早之雲南寄法國混貼明信片，可能為最早。片帶裂痕及折痕。(Image 1) (Image 2)

2163 cover image1903 Yunnanfu (5 Apr) to Belgium. ICP 1st print PSC, uprated by Coiling Dragon 1/2c in pair + 2c, tied by Yunnanfu PO handfilled cds. Transit Mengtsz Chinese PO (11 Apr), Mengtsz French PO (13 Apr). Arrived Belgium. Combination with Indochian adhesive was no longer required since Oct 1902 according to Mah Lang Moe.

1903.4.5 雲南府寄比利時。大清第一版郵資片，加貼蟠龍半分雙連 + 2分，銷雲南府郵政局手填日戳。4.11經蒙自清郵，4.13經蒙自法 局。抵比利時。馬蘭茂指1902年10月初起，經印支郵路寄出之雲南 郵件毋需再混貼印支票。(Image 1) (Image 2)

2167 cover image1908 Peking (24 Dec) to Customs Tengyueh, missent to Tibet and returned to Peking. Large registered red band cover, applied with Chihli Peking origin cds. F.w. Coiling Dragon 10c + probably several dropped stamps, tied by Shanghai Chinese PO bisected bilingual cds. Transit Shanghai (31 Dec) and then missent to Tibet via Tuticorin (17 Jan), Calcutta (10 Feb / 18 Mar), Bombay (22 Mar / 2 Apr). Returned to Peking via Hong Kong (21 Apr), Shanghai (27 Apr). Arrived on 2 May. This cover never reached Yunnan. Interesting. Rough edges.

1908.12.24 北京寄騰越海關，誤寄西藏，後退回北京。大型掛號紅條封，鈐直隸北京始發日戳。貼蟠龍1角 + 數枚掉票，銷上海半切漢英日戳。12.31經上海，後經Tuticorin（1.17）、加爾各答（2.10 / 3.18）及孟買（3.22 / 4.2）誤寄西藏，再經香港（4.21）、上海（4.27）退回北京（5.2）。此信似乎從未寄抵雲南。邊沿磨損。(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)

As most outgoing mails from Yunnan were delivered by Burma or French Indochina, examples via Siberia are scarce.

2172 image1908 Apichung to France, f.w. Coiling Dragon x20c, tied by Apichung PO tombstone cancel, along with Mengtsz registered mark. Transit Hokow, Laokay (7 Aug), Haiphong (9 Aug). Arrived France (17 Sep). Rough edges. Apichung was a temporary settlement for the construction of Yunnan-Indochina railway. It was abandoned when the railway was completed.
