marking. This marking was only seen between Aug and Dec 1918.

 1920 (Apr 25) London to Shanghai "Dead Letter" Cover. A compelling postal history item sent from Maida Hill, London to A. North-Szigetváry c/o Jardine, Matheson & Co., Shanghai. GB KGV 1d and 1½d, tied by London wavy line
machine cancel. Richly marked with "NON-RECLAMÉ", "ADVERTISED", and manuscript "Unknown at" instructions. Reverse shows Shanghai B.P.O. (June 7), Shanghai Local Post (July 15), and a boxed Dead Letter Office handstamp. This cover illustrates the
"Dead Letter" process for undeliverable mail sent to a major Hong: a classic piece of "Return to Sender" mail involving the most famous trading firm in China.
1920年倫敦寄上海怡和洋行封，蓋有「無人領取」、「已廣告」及手寫「查無此人」等豐富退信標記。背面蓋有上海英國郵局、工部書信館及死信局戳記，生動展現了寄往大洋行之郵件退回流程，是研究早期郵政史中「死信」處理的經典實物。(Image 1)

 20 July 1869, cover sent from Haverhill, Massachusetts, to Swatow, franked with a US 10c adhesive tied by dumb cross stamp. On the front side, further cancelled by a boxed handstamp “PAID ONLY TO HONG KONG” with manuscript
deletion, San Francisco Paid All red circular c.d.s. On the reverse side, two cancellations including HK c.d.s. (5 Sep) and Swatow arrival c.d.s. (9 Sep). According to Goldsmith, this special “PAID ONLY TO HONG KONG” handstamp was a locally made
cancellation, specifying the postage paid was sufficient up to Hong Kong only. But in this cover, the US postage 10c has already covered the charge to the Treaty Port, Swatow, and therefore deleted the boxed handstamp subsequently by the HK postal
officer when he forwarded the mail to Swatow. Provenance: Mike Goldsmith Collection

 1916 Swatow (16 Jul) to USA. Printed matter cover front only, f.w. Hong Kong KGV 2c, tied by Swatow BPO Webb type I index A cds (characters "TOW" of Swatow was improved by hand-drawing). Cover corner trimmed per printed matter
regulation. Swatow type I cds on unovpt. KGV issue is only seen in 1916 and hence scarce. Webb only recorded this cds on unovpt. KGV 1c, 6c and 8c.
