3188 cover image1921 Chenghwasze (Sharasume) (19 Mar) to Peking via Tihwa. Red band cover, f.w. Junk ovpt. Limited For Use in Sinkiang 4c + 5c on reverse, tied by Chenghwasze (Altai) bilingual cds, along with Ashan (Altai) censor mark. Arrived Waikwan (11 May). Cover opened out for display. In 1918, the Chinese courier route was expanded westward beyond Kobdo and a Chinese PO was esstablished in Chenghwasze. Hellrigl recorded only one cover from this PO dated 14 Sep 1919 (2025 Jul AVA, lot 864). In 1919, Chenghwasze was annexed to the Altai region of Sinkiang.

1921.3.19 承化寺經迪化寄北京。紅條封，背貼帆船加蓋限新省貼用4分 + 5分，銷罕見之“承化寺（阿爾泰）”腰框漢英日戳，旁鈐阿山道耳檢查橫戳。5.11抵外館。封剖開以作展示。按Hellrigl記載，中華郵政在1918年將郵路擴展至科布多以西，並設立了承化寺郵局，其記錄之存世例子僅有一件（1919年9月14日，2025年7月艾華夏拍864號）。隨後1919年該地，便被歸入新疆阿爾泰地區。(Image 1)
