 Japanese occupation, Canton overprint. Canton overprints were denominated in Japanese Military Notes in circulation, while postage was dictated in Nanking using the Central Savings note. Rapid depreciation of Central Saving
currency caused the stamps be sold at 1x, 1/2x or 1/3x its face value, represented here in three covers. Plus one Japan Military PSC used in Canton paying only the airmail surcharge, regular postage being free, used in FPO 202.
日本占領廣東“粵省貼用”實寄封四件，粵省貼用郵票用日本軍票面值，執行汪僞政權中央儲備券的郵資，因中儲券持續貶值，故不同時期，粵省貼用郵票兌中儲券從1：1升至1：2和1：3，此三封反映日佔時期三大匯率變化。另一件日本“南支派遣軍”發出的航空軍事明信片，免郵資，只支付航空費，銷“第二百二野戰”，受檢查。(Image

 1941 Hong Kong to USA, f.w. Hong Kong KGVI $1 x4 + $10 (Yang 146) + Centenary of British Occupation 25c but uncancelled, alongside with “NOT OPENED BY CENSOR” mark, LR mark and registered mark. Showing “PER PAN AMERICAN AIRWAYS
CLIPPER” annotation. Transit Honolulu (1 Nov). Arrived New York (6 Nov). Peculiar example of having censor department marking but no postmark as the postal censor department was in the GPO building, not to mention the scarce high denomination
franking.
1941年香港寄美國，貼香港佐治六世1元x4 + 10元（楊目146）+ 開埠百週年2角5分，無蓋銷，另鈐“NOT OPENED BY CENSOR”橫戳、LR章及掛號章。印有“PER PAN AMERICAN AIRWAYS CLIPPER”批示。11.1經火奴魯魯，11.6抵紐約。由於郵件檢查之部門正位於郵政總局內，故有LR章但郵票無蓋銷甚為奇特。高面值貼票同樣難得。(Image 1)

 1941 England (19 Nov) to Hong Kong, returned to sender due to the fall of Hong Kong, f.w. Britain KGVI 2/6 + 1sd in pair + 9d, tied by London registered cds., alongside with “PASSED BY BRITISH PHILATELIC ASSN” oval d.s, censor
mark and “RETURNED TO SENDER SERVICE SUSPENDED” horizontal h.s. Transit New York (10 Dec), San Francisco (12 Dec). Returned to sender via New York (9 Mar). Hong Kong fell into Japanese hands on 25 Dec 1941.

英國寄香港，因香港淪陷而退回，貼英國票2/6 + 1先令雙連 + 9便士，銷倫敦掛號日戳，旁鈐“PASSED BY BRITISH PHILATELIC ASSN”手填日戳、檢查章及“RETURNED TO SENDER / SERVICE SUSPENDED”橫戳。12.10經紐約，12.12經三藩市。後退回，3.9經紐約。香港於1941年12月25日淪陷。(Image 1)

front with “DETAINED IN HONGKONGBY JAPANESE FROM DECEMBER 1941 TO SEPTEMBER 1945” cachet. Very scarce incoming and returned but detained example.
1941年吉隆坡寄香港，退回寄件人但於香港扣留。貼票被撕去。檢查並重封。11.25抵港但查無收件人。11.26轉退信局。正面蓋有“鈐“DETAINED IN HONGKONGBY

 1941 H.Q. “C Force”, Hong Kong (3 Dec) to Canada, detained in Hong Kong, f.w. Hong Kong KGVI 15c + Centenary of British Occupation 5c, tied by Kowloon Hong Kong cds, alongside with “DETAINED IN HONGKONGBY JAPANESE FROM DECEMBER
1941 TO SEPTEMBER 1945” cachet. On reverse with “PASSED BY CENSOR 137” triangular mark. “C” Force was the Canadian military contingent involved in the Battle of Hong Kong in Dec 1941. The major Canadian units involved were the Winnipeg Grenadiers and
the Royal Rifles of Canada. Very historical military usage.
