928 image1941 (8 Sept) Extraordinary Pacific clipper + South Asia Air transit. Colon - India, West Katcha, Hyderabad, Sind. Franked $1,01. Arrived San Francisco 12 September via Brownsville 11 September. Carried on the Pacific Clipper, which left 20 September and, after encountering heavy weather, landed at Guam with a broken propeller. The mail was transferred to the California Clipper, which arrived in Singapore on 3 October; then by WS127 ("Clifton"), which left 6 October and reached Calcutta 8 October (backstamped 9 October); delivered 15 October after censorship. A rather fast trip for those war days.. (Image)
