1857 (Dec 16) "Overland Friend of China" newspaper no. 23 published in Hong Kong, privately carried to England and posted from Exeter to Teignmouth franked 1d. The newspaper contains detailed shipping news, war news with a list of ships blockading
the river and port of Canton, an account of the funeral of Col. Lugard and names of foreigners who aided Cantonese pirates at Ningpo in the recent attack on the Spanish and Portuguese. A scarce early newspaper.
